GW instant log in security script.
Ok...this is completely legal. The purpose of this, is to enter GW w/o having to type pw, acc name, and now, the character name.
-For those who know how to do it already, the new security line is "-character (character name) "
-For those who don't: Open up the properties of your GW icon. You will see a line like this:
Mine is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"
Add:
-email (email address) [at the end of 'Gw.exe']
right after the address put 1 space. next type in:
-password (your password here)
and the last one, -character "Bob" (use your character name)
After everything is done it should look like this
Where your GW is\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -email [email protected] -password 123456 -character "Bob"
Have fun!

Sweet!
I just bitched about this a few minutes ago in the other thread!
Thanks for the info!
EDIT:
Ohh! Just read the other thread.
After reading this, I was under the impression that this is a feature you can use WITHOUT the multi-launch client!

If someone got that far in they could probably do a lot more harm than just emptying your GW account...

"C:........." Email(space)password(space)character name
And when gw pops up, its like nothing has changed.....just has the email and sec. question from remember me.

Great!
Haven't logged into GW for almost a week now so I was relying on the info people here shared.
(What's the "-mce" command for btw?)

for media center editions of windows. it keeps popping back up unless you make your shortcut read-only

The only EASY was would be to hack you through a wireless network, brute force your way into the network if it is pass-worded (if it isnt, easier) and then force their way onto your HDD (even if filesharing is off) and then they can look at the shortcut. If you did it with a runline command from the start>run they wouldn't be able to find it as easy because runlines are stored in the registry and you can't mod the registry or open it's main file while that target machine is booted into Windows.
Basically if you are on wireless, password it or just run wired only, its safer.
If someone hacks you locally (wirelessely) they are close by just call the cops, hahaha.

HMMMMM -
Now that I've worked with it a bit more...
I have 2 accounts. I made a shortcut for my main that worked just fine. Then couldn't get one for the second account to work. I tried doing a manual login on the secondary so it would remember the character name. Now the shortcut for the secondary works, but the one for the main is broke.
In short - it only works if I have the correct character name saved from a prior logon.

Put double quotes around your character name (or else the second part of your name will be interpreted as a command switch). E.g., -character "Bob The Builder"

Been always using the -password thing for a quick login, but I can't get the -character switch to work in any way. Tried a bazillion of combinations and I always get 'GW can't recognize my login information'.
Now I can get my GW client to rememer the character name in itself, and then I can put just any character name in the command line and it always logs in with the one I've put in the client. I can even type a nonexistant character name in the command line and it still logs in...
Are you sure the switch is -character ?

Works for me. This is what i always use:
-Character=Char name
You don't need brackets of any of that silly stuff, just a plain old equals sign.

Just did a binary scan on Gw.exe and as far as I can tell, there isn't a command line option for the character name as there are for the email and password.
acceptable command line options seem to be:
authsrv
bmp
diag
dx8
email
fps
image
map
mce
password
perf
port
repair
resetmap
noshaders
nosound
mute
noui
sndasio
sndfastbuf
sndmultispk
sndwinmm
uninstall
update
windowed
exit

Yes. If someone can get sufficient privileges to drop and execute their keylogger, they can just as easily drop and execute something to read out this info from your shortcut command. It's 6 of one or half a dozen of the other.
